BOOK DRIVE

What is it?

The Book Drive is an effort by UAE teachers to support colleagues in under-resourced countries by collecting and shipping used and new textbooks (any level, age-group or subject). It is staffed by volunteers and supported by the generosity of local education institutions, teachers and shipping companies. Whilst the main collection takes place during the annual TESOL Arabia Conference, efforts are year round, organised by a volunteer network throughout the UAE.

Interested in getting involved?

We can use your help with sorting and boxing books at different locations. If you are willing to contribute your time to help out, let us know where you work and which days/times you can be available. Abu Dhabi(ADMC), Sharjah(SWC) and Dubai (ZU) all could use some helpers (and empty boxes) at present.

More importantly, the book drive is still looking for a capable and committed leader in the UAE (or a team of two) to become coordinator for the next school year. We're also looking for people to be contact persons for the campuses they work on in the UAE. Again, contact us at tesolbookdrive@yahoo.comto volunteer, or for more information. A contact person would publicise book drive activities and help out with any donations from their institutions.
