Teaching, Learning, Leading

CONFERENCE 2005

At the Conference - Professional Development Courses - Leadership Development Back

Neil Anderson
abstract

The emphasis of this session is for all EFL teachers and program administrators to identify ways in which they are leaders. Leadership cannot be defined solely by one's position. Leadership is the ability to establish a course of direction, recognize actions that need to be taken to move forward on the established path.

The session will highlight five leadership skills that EFL teachers and program administrators can use in order to lead from behind: (1) Know the direction of the program and recognize when to make course corrections, (2) Develop one's own leadership skills, (3) Know the limits of one's stewardship, (4) Help colleagues perform well in their individual stewardships, and (5) Evaluate the effectiveness of the work towards accomplishing the established direction
