Denise Murray
Leading in unpredictable contexts
The presenter will outline the issues that affect effective leadership. She argues that we need to think "out of box" about these issues. To challenge our thinking, she applies knowledge gained from complexity theory and emotional intelligence to managing language programs and leading teams. The presenter will illustrate the complexity of ELT in culture, personal styles, values, and information and organizational structures. To manage and lead, rather than merely survive, in this unpredictable and changing environment, requires continuous adaptability, creativity and learning. The presenter will suggest ways for administrators, and leaders to be adaptable, creative and to learn continuously.
